In the upcoming winter semester we will supervise a master’s thesis in collaboration with the TRAKO chair and the Institute for Building Materials Research (ibac) at RWTH Aachen for five students. The thesis will explore the potential of local biofibers and biofiber-clay composites, starting with material screening and testing different mixtures and structures at the ibac laboratories. The goal is to create a 1:1 prototype of a wall-ceiling connection using biofiber-clay composites and develop a transferable strategy for architects to apply composite materials from local raw materials.
