This elective takes place in the form of an intensive workshop during the white week from 21st to 25th november 2022 on the production site of bc materials in Brussels.

The workshop introduces transformation processes of local raw materials, mainly focused on the use of unfired earth. The hands-on workshop format allows you to learn by doing, seeing and feeling.

The students will:
discover a variety earth building techniques,
engage in didactic materials exercises,
do a site visit of industrial production,
visit contemporary architectural projects with unfired earth. create a variety of material samples,
create large scale prototype

We aim to create a wide skillset through our hands-on approach; understanding the act of building, intuitive handling and experimenting with geo-based and bio-based materials, exploring constructive systems through creation.
